Sorry, but this statement is just as wrong as "All red cars are fast"! Among prefabricated house providers, there are just as many Fiat Pandas as S-Class Mercedes. Accordingly, the value retention does not depend on the term "prefabricated house," but on the quality of execution, the equipment, and the condition at resale.

I consider the statement to be correct (of course not the one about the cars...).

I totally agree with you when you say that the quality of prefab houses does not have to be worse than that of solid construction. That is certainly not the problem. Nevertheless, prefab houses often have a significantly worse reputation than solid houses among most people, and that logically depresses the purchase price. The preservation of value is not necessarily dependent on quality (it can of course be a factor), but ultimately determined by later demand, and that is lower for a used prefab house. I personally have no prejudices against prefab houses (OK, with the 70s prefab houses, yes, rightfully so), but many do.

The prejudice is based on the fact that most people (still) have no idea what a prefabricated house actually means nowadays. When people then look at prefabricated houses and deal with them, the opinion is quickly revised. Experienced this several times among friends and acquaintances.

Nevertheless, it may of course be that people prefer to live in a classic solid house. But I have no concerns about selling my house properly one day, even if that is not planned for the time being.

I cannot confirm that. We recently sold our ten-year-old (prefab) house at a very good price. One interested party even came with a construction expert to, as was apparent, push the price down. But even he had no objections to the property and saw the price as justified. I believe that among the older generation, the bad reputation of prefabricated houses is related to their construction faults from the 70s. Those who have dealt with the subject of house building objectively know that prefabricated houses are not necessarily worse and thus less valuable than conventionally built houses.

A regional one from our area, but there should definitely be such ones in your area as well. For various reasons, I prefer such construction companies over the really big ones.

So today we visited a FH "market leader," my impression: comparable to Dacia among car manufacturers. Only now do you get a sense of what you can expect for your money if you can/want to spend less. They offer KfW55 with a gas boiler ("Heizkosten i.H.v. 40€/Monat")... Heat pump costs 10,000€ extra, will be much cheaper than the others, but also less durable.
