No, you’re not overlooking anything, I am also completely satisfied with my QNAP for end users. I don’t think I’ve ever pushed the CPU to its limits. But to each their own.

I have an unmanaged Allnet 24x for general use and a Cisco 8x for POE.

The SAT multiswitch is in the attic and is some no-name brand. But it works without any ifs or buts.

Unmanaged (I believe this is always sufficient in a single-family house) and POE will come separately soon. For the time being, I have also opted for rather inexpensive solutions. No problems so far.

POE depends on how many devices you have. Having 2-3 injectors in the cabinet is not a problem and costs less than buying an extra switch for it. SAT can be attached, for example, to the back panel; I haven't seen anything like that in 19" yet. The switch should at least be smart managed in my opinion. Trunking and VLANs are functions that I already use today. In the new house, there will be a camera outside, which needs to be isolated in the network; how should that work unmanaged?

Regarding patching, I see it rather the other way around. From the patch panel side, in my opinion, no Keystone is necessary, as it works easily with LSA - and quickly. If you have CAT7 and double sockets, I personally find it very tight in the sockets. So I will do it exactly the other way around. Keystone socket & LSA patch panel.

So far, I have been considering either the "TP-Link TL-SG2424 Gigabit Smart Switch (24-Port, fanless passive cooling design)" or the "Netgear JGS524E-200EUS ProSafe Smart Managed Plus Gigabit Ethernet Switch (24-Port)", the first one is about 150 EUR, the second one about 130 EUR. I still need to find a PoE switch, as I need 10 ports for cameras, APs, phones, and Gira G1. The APs will probably be the "Ubiquiti Networks 2.4GHz/5GHz, 867Mbit, 122m 1x 10/100/1000, 24V Passive PoE, UAP-AC-LITE".

For outdoor cameras (Bullet), I will probably get more ieGeek 1080 HD PoE ones. They are nice and black, perfectly suitable for my purposes, and at 45 EUR really good, even at night. For a Dome, it will probably be a "Hikvision Digital Technology DS-2CD2142FWD-I(2.8MM)".

For the rack, I was thinking of the "DIGITUS Professional 12U Network Wall Cabinet" but I am a bit unsure whether 450mm or 600mm depth makes more sense. I actually prefer it slim, so is there any reason against the 450mm?

Anything there you would say: "Stay away!"?

: A multiswitch would actually not be that important to me as a 19" version. I just read a post above where someone wrote that he also has one in the cabinet. So I thought it was a 19" multiswitch, but maybe I misunderstood.
