And that's what annoys me about building, if it really was a professional company, they should have used their brain before laying it. I would insist on compensation without any ifs or buts... but I wouldn't be surprised if you still have to pay.

So we have the first reaction from Kann Bausysteme:

I also found the following text on the OBI site and on Kann’s site, which serves as a description for the paving stones:

We are now torn. Since Kann Bausysteme very quickly offered us a 50% discount as a concession, I think something is not right there. But there is also the risk of pushing it too far if we now insist on an on-site appointment and they withdraw the offer.

What bothers me, however, is that it is advertised that an inexperienced handyman can lay the stones because they are combined almost ready for laying.

We do not yet know whether we should accept this and manually swap stones afterwards or what else we should demand. Our paver says we should definitely continue to insist on an on-site appointment.

No, that is a wise decision on the part of the company Kann! You will probably report in the future that you do not like the color gradient, but at the same time you will have to refer to the goodwill of the provider. With this discount, they primarily protect their reputation.

Accept the discount and pass it on to your paver; it doesn’t get any better than that! Or is it your goal to be right at any cost? This recklessness "could" backfire badly; the manufacturer explicitly points out the different coloration.

Personally, I generally don’t like these concrete stones, but I agree with Yvonne that they stand out because of the - perhaps involuntarily - created way they were laid from the mass of the paving stones. By the way, it will still change over time.

Rhineland regards

I have also already laid such colorful stones with my husband. The color gradients always lie one behind the other on the pallet, so first one color, then a mixed transition, and then the next color. You always have to arrange a large stack of stones side by side and mix the stones nicely. When laying them, you have to think with every stone which shade might fit now and keep looking at the complete color gradient. Since I have already done this once, I would not let any craftsman do it without supervision. I would be afraid that it wouldn't look nice. I can't imagine that every craftsman pays attention so closely.

Best regards
Sabine

We had similar stones and a similar problem when the dark tones occasionally met. The paver swapped a few pieces. After 2 years, it no longer bothers us, we don’t even see it. Friends never noticed. I also think the dark tones have faded well.

Yes, we are also considering simply hiring the paver to take the stones with tongs and swap them out. That is two days of work, though. But that could be paid for with the money we got back. Then it probably wouldn’t look so bad anymore.

I have now gotten the number of the field service representative from the local market and talked to him on the phone. I would just like to have him take a look at it. And see what he says.

We are not opposed to taking the money either. If we can somehow come out cost-neutral. And in the end it looks somewhat acceptable. Then we are satisfied. But at the moment, we are not.

It is a difficult situation. We still really like the sizes of the stones so far.
