Just because it is approved (no matter what the ventilation concept according to DIN 1946-6 may look like...) does not necessarily mean it is good. For me, a controlled residential ventilation system is mandatory in new buildings, and buying a house without controlled residential ventilation is a deal breaker. Save on some "nonsense" in the house, like window sills, and invest in controlled residential ventilation. Even if it is only decentralized, because building the house is actually already too expensive for the income.

We also have Kfw40 and fortunately chose a controlled residential ventilation system. That was new territory for us, as our previous houses never had this. It wasn’t so bad because they were never as airtight as they need to be today. Ventilating several times a day for a lifetime would not be my approach and I also don’t really believe that older children would stick to it. The necessary topic of "ventilation" in a new house I would actually reconsider with my life habits (and those of the possible cohabitants even in 10+ years). Maybe there is a cheaper alternative but even if not, I would definitely have a controlled residential ventilation system installed myself, even as an original opponent or non-expert. The energy consultant approves everything that is mathematically permissible, but does not live there. I keep recommending not only to orient oneself on today’s popular calculation values, as people with idiosyncratic behaviors run around in between. .....if one can afford such an attitude, why not. Surely, besides the seating window there are also things that one might reduce or leave out in order to implement the necessary (controlled residential ventilation system).

That is exactly how it usually is, because the window is cold and the glass hopefully perfectly flat; sitting is hardly more uncomfortable. In the Pinterest pictures they certainly left out the users’ pain-distorted faces.

... with 45cm depth exclusively suitable for sitting at the table. The usual use as a seating window sill in the evening with two spotlights from above, leaning on the sides with cushions and a blanket or a book and a glass of wine is not possible. Is that really exactly how your wife intended it? If yes, then okay. Just a pity.

I find the combo rather a very, very, very bad compromise. Uncomfortable to sit on without a proper backrest, and if you want to use it as a window seat, you first have to push the table away.
