I had already talked to the chimney sweep before construction started.
Well, it was said that there are 2 options for simultaneous operation of controlled residential ventilation and a fireplace:
1. DiBT-approved fireplace + controlled residential ventilation executed according to DIN 1946
2. DiBT-approved fireplace + differential pressure monitor

We also talked on the phone several times, but it was never mentioned that everything has to be done by a specialist company.

In the end, it’s about not dying. That’s why you’re allowed to install a water tap or a window yourself, but not a power outlet, a fireplace, or a gas stove. You can think that’s silly or sensible, since people regularly die because of such things, or houses burn down, but apparently it’s necessary.

I understand all that, and regulations are good too, but they should then apply to everyone and not... yes here, no in the neighboring town.

It's like with building permits and building authorities. They are not equally strict everywhere. You can't do everything on a low budget. Have the chimney installed and wait until the chimney sweep changes. You can check every few months.

Do you have the opportunity to talk to other builders who have already worked with this [Bezirkskaminkehrermeister]? Maybe he just seems strict, but actually isn’t. That was definitely the case with us. Beforehand, he complained that if we relocate the oil heating system as planned (as a DIY job) and install a stainless steel outdoor chimney ourselves, the operating permit would expire and the heating system would not be allowed to be put back into operation. In the end, everything was fine, it was no problem at all, and he approved the conversion.

We are just about to move in and I have now laid vinyl around the fireplace. I also had the screed lowered a bit there to achieve the same height for tiles and vinyl.

Do they have to switch their district every few years?
