What is he supposed to do a lot then - besides causing trouble. It'll be fine. He will be a grumbler like my parents' neighbor. If he can't keep the lawyers busy, he's sick. He wanted to report my mother because she doesn't poison ants.

Honestly, the whole situation is somewhat complicated to understand without pictures.

As far as I understand, the neighbor carried out a boundary development (probably at the time of the house, since it is only now about his garage). According to my understanding, there should be a transfer of setback areas on your property – with the consequence that your building window would have to be narrower as a result.

Now he wants to build a garage. As far as boundary development is concerned, it would be privileged and would not require such a goodwill on your part.

Nevertheless, that is probably what it is really about – and I estimate that the interference with your building project is a negotiating object (in the sense: you have no objection to his wish, then he withdraws his objection).

At least that would give it a “meaning” (?)
