Hmm, maybe you have a different idea of a chain than I do. But it is a fact that it is less strenuous if two people each only have to go one floor and can hand the boxes to each other, rather than both having to carry a box two floors each and having to bend their knees one more time to load or unload the box. Simple (bio)physics. That your psyche is then a negative factor is personal in nature.

Moving is just plain shitty. We are real pros too, as adults we have moved 8 times in 10 years. 6 of the 8 moves were without children. The last 2 were much more exhausting than the first 6:p. We moved between 3 and 600 km each time. The most important thing is not to acquire too much stuff in the first place. Ruthlessly sort out. And always unpack right away. I would sell old furniture in this case and then get new furniture or new used furniture at the new place. Usually no problem with Ikea. Only keep what you really care about.

Good that we cleared that up, that will probably be the reason :) I have experienced several times and once had to participate, that 20 people line up in a 20m stretch and think they have formed a great chain. Meanwhile, 4 people stand on a staircase handing boxes or even furniture parts to each other... horror.

Dividing by floor, etc. is of course a different matter and depending on the "cargo" certainly acceptable :)

No, that's nonsense, I agree with you.

Well, I want to see the calculation from the company. Let's say 3 people, who are on the truck 2x12 hours and pack 2x8 hours. That makes 120 man-hours. For 2300€? The truck, fuel, and other costs have to come out of that too. No one gets more than 5€ per hour... Realistically calculated with a still cheap hourly rate of 40€ and without material costs, that’s 4800€. So I think it will be 5k and up, definitely with a company that invoices.

I actually expect something around that. It’s not 2x12 hours in the truck, but I think you do drive 8-9 hours for a route.
