Hello We have a living room wall about 3 meters wide. A living room unit is supposed to be placed in front of it. We are thinking of one of those modern modular living room units with a sideboard in the middle and vitrines on both sides. Our problem is that the inspection opening for the underfloor heating is installed in this wall, with the usual devices such as control valves and heat meters. The inspection opening must of course be accessible at all times, in case of malfunction or for inspection work, about once a year. Hanging sideboards or vitrines are naturally not possible in this area. How can I move commercially available living room units as easily, gently (on the floor), and vibration-free (contents/glasses) as possible? We have glued parquet. Are there visually acceptable steerable floor casters that can be mounted in advance and are also suitable for the heavy weight of a full vitrine? Or are felt or silicone gliders recommended to move the furniture on a smooth parquet floor? Who has experience with this? Thank you.

Why not? I would take a sideboard whose internal dimensions are such that, when you clear out a compartment, you can reach exactly to the inspection flap. In my condominium, I did exactly that in the hallway in front of the heating circuit distributor with heavy-duty shelves.

Depends on the total weight and height. >50 kg with a high center of gravity is problematic. There are balls instead of casters that might help. Just don’t know if they’re available for parquet and with a locking brake.

Otherwise, just go fully for an industrial loft look, then you can use heavy-duty casters. But I would go with my variant 1.

If I have correctly identified your misconception, the mobility only needs to concern the middle part, and the heavy pieces on the left and right remain stationary in the meantime.

Felt pads? How much does a lowboard weigh? Maximum 100kg?

that's how it's also done with sockets and stuff. Your description of the "modern living room walls" you envision consists of several elements, right?! It’s easy enough to move the central sideboard, isn’t it? Is the house already built? Otherwise, I would also suggest a redesign.
