Oh man

The longer I deal with the topic now, the more confused I am.

What I don’t understand right now:

Why do I need so many things, some of which are really expensive.

I thought I’d do it similar to the old garden.

A sprinkler in the middle, the supply line attached to it, and a computer at the tap.

To make it look better and robot-friendly, there’s a pop-up sprinkler.

The computer controls when watering is done, and that’s it.

For a second separate line, they also have computers with two outputs.

Are the pop-up sprinklers that bad in terms of range?

In the old garden, I had the Gardena square sprinkler, and that was enough.

Pop-up sprinklers also come with a very long range. But your flow rate is not sufficient for that, and you don’t have a round property/lawn. Take a look at what they use on golf courses.
If you don’t care about uneven watering, you can also bury a few Gardena rectangular sprinklers. For that, use the battery-powered controller with two outlets. But that’s not really comparable to a “proper” irrigation system.
Since you have to dig anyway to lay the sprinklers, you could also run to the edges and for example install Hunter sprinklers there. Pipes cost almost nothing. The controller (if not the luxury version) is also not more expensive than a Gardena controller. Then you have a robust system with all options.
I think you are still stuck in an old mindset. You won’t get good and even watering with just one sprinkler. It will get wet, but very unevenly. Some spots too dry, some spots puddled... Not to mention the water consumption...

Hello Rick2018,
I read quite a bit about the whole topic yesterday.

You are right, Gardena really seems to be doing double work, as everything breaks quickly.

Therefore, it probably makes sense to invest directly in something decent.

I have attached a proper plan again.

I want to start by installing just sprinkler heads and on the left and right at the marked shrubs each a water outlet, so that later I can decide whether to install drip irrigation from there.

Our garden is still completely new territory. The landscaper will come the week after next and then everything will be designed and turf laid.

We would do the irrigation ourselves.

Where I marked the red spot on the plan, I want to build the water distributor, an electrical distributor, and the garage for the robotic lawn mower; whether there will still be room for a plant in the end remains to be seen.

Could you maybe help me with the planning?

I saw you had managed it so well in the other thread as well.

I want to keep it as cheap as possible for now. We have just recently built.

At the water connection, I would like to have a flexible hose with which I can optionally supply from the cistern or the house water.

Can the irrigation computer be connected directly to the faucet like with Gardena? Or how exactly does that work?

The irrigation of the front garden does not matter for now, as no work will be done there yet. That is planned for next year when the street is finished.

Best regards

Birgit

The irrigation computer has nothing to do with the water pipe or faucet. Only the control line from the valves runs to the computer. That means you could place the computer indoors near a power outlet and run the control line up to there. A flexible hose for switching is possible. However, it should be ensured that water is available when the cycle starts. Depending on the irrigation computer, the irrigation will automatically start when it is too dry.
