I mainly meant: a) whoever truly wants to be eco-friendly from the heart especially has to be on guard that products from the immediate neighboring market (namely for the target group "I don’t care if it’s eco, as long as it’s labeled bigger and bolder") don’t spill over; and I wanted b) to tease a bit from the OP whether she is searching as an informed consumer or rather guided by nature-product-hazy advertising, as is often behind preferences for wood (or also brick).

Eco means not building at all or building very very small Then all building materials would have to be analyzed and considered for pollutants, CO2 emissions, water consumption, etc. throughout the entire production chain Sounds utopian @TE there is the possibility to have your new building tested and certified for pollutants.

@Öko: I agree. I have come across so many companies calling themselves "eco" and then using glue with formaldehyde, OSB 2 boards, etc.. that I no longer believe that word when spoken by companies. That's why I find it easier with wood: if untreated and not from near Chernobyl, I have the clearest idea of what is inside.

Harmful substances: Unfortunately, only those that are currently known can be tested. In 5/10 years, a substance considered harmless today could be classified as "harmful." That's why our motto, regarding materials - and not only - is: "keep it simple."

Right. I still remember the wood preservative in the 80s. Today freely available and tomorrow hazardous waste that must be removed from living spaces immediately. Building low in formaldehyde and then just putting all the furniture in cheaply doesn't help either. Our general contractor builds according to residential health standards. It was a coincidence; we hadn't looked for that, just as little as we had for the wall structure. You can think whatever you want about it, and I am skeptical. Since moving, our little one hasn't had any pseudocroup attacks anymore. Coincidence?

I think it was probably no coincidence. I have heard quite a few similar stories. Mr. Thoma started his success story in timber house construction because of the health of his children - there are some interviews about it. I checked with your house provider, Haydee, and 2000€/sqm + "Gesund Wohnen" no longer seems to be available (according to the online calculator I come to 2800).

Exactly: nuclear power should also be environmentally friendly, electricity without soot from coal power plants

Should I know him?
