Level the basement or the plot?

We actually don't need a basement and would sensibly only put the utility room and technical equipment in the basement. We would still have an office on the ground floor with a view to a bedroom for old age. As a full basement, the basement would also be oversized. The neighboring property to the north is free, to the east built at a sufficient distance, and to the south the garage directly at the property boundary and behind it a large house directly.

so the answer is not entirely clear to me yet. Of course, you actually don’t need/want a basement.
But when I look at the whole thing in the side view and you want the ground floor at street level, quite a lot will be filled in. Between the terrace and the garden there will also be a fairly steep slope.

RED: House starts 3 m above ground level
GREEN: House starts 3 m above street level
Blue: Split level, height difference 1.20 m

I would really consider a split level here. From my point of view, it is optimal for the terrain.
But of course it is more demanding for the architect.

tell the OP what you paid for the backfill. I wouldn’t raise to street level without a basement, though. I would rather pay attention to good water drainage and then adapt to the terrain.
