That is not correct. Since the buyer usually bears the notary costs, he must also be responsible for the costs which – after a bindingly agreed notary appointment – arise in case of withdrawal. The invoice generated in this way goes directly to the defaulting buyer, whereby the costs incurred should remain within reasonable limits ;) Rhineland greetings

And does this generally apply even if I, as the seller, commission the notary? Does the notary then automatically send the invoice to the buyer?

If it is agreed that the buyer alone bears the costs, then that is the case.

Rhenish regards

Yes, but only if the agreement is stipulated in the notarized contract, and if the buyer does not proceed to sign, then the notary also contacts the buyer?

In cases where we deliver the land for the house, I forward the buyer's contact details to the notary, as far as we have been able to determine them. After that, the notary's office contacts the buyer and arranges everything necessary. I therefore have nothing to do with the commissioning except that I provide the required contact details and, accordingly, I can hardly be the invoice recipient if the notary contract unexpectedly dissolves into thin air ;) Rhenish greetings

Ok, I was talking about the general case now. If it works that way with you, that’s fine. Officially, it seems that the person is first obligated to the notary who appoints him.
