Yes, CAT 7 works, outlets for CAT 7 are still rare, so CAT 6 or CAT 6a outlets.

Since CAT 7 cables are not significantly more expensive than CAT 6a cables, buying them is worthwhile and you can upgrade the outlets later. However, you will only have the CAT 6a or CAT 6 speed, which must definitely be verified afterwards by a category measurement.

CAT 6(A) and CAT 7 have the same speed, the difference is the maximum cable length. And these are lengths that hardly anyone would reach in a single-family house. The difference starts from CAT 8, but I personally consider 40 Gigabit to be quite exaggerated, although some may surely see it differently.
