Hi!

Attached is the preliminary floor plan of our ground floor, in which our kitchen will be located.

We don't like the layout. What improvements do you see?

Because of the window, not so many wall cabinets are possible, but we are not really sad about that.

Also, the bottom side of the L is too long for us. The refrigerator and tall cabinet were planned on this side, but not that long.

Looking forward to your ideas!

Without exact measurements, it's hard to say anything. At least, I can't find anything about how long, for example, the shorter part of the L or the wall towards the staircase would be?

Don't you need tall cabinets? Refrigerator and elevated oven would already be a 1.2 m tall cabinet wall – with a panel on the wall side rather 1.3 m.

If possible, I would first plan the kitchen solidly and then adjust the window fronts accordingly.

Edit: if the longer part of the L is supposed to be shorter, at the moment I don't see a single wall cabinet, only fridge and oven in the tall cabinets and a possible downdraft extractor or a strange ceiling solution directly on a wall.

Just a small tip from me: wall cabinets and windows can also go together: we planned a strip of windows between the countertop and the wall cabinet. Depending on the type of upper cabinet, there is a raw construction dimension of 50 cm height between them. The window is fixed, so there is still enough glass left. You just have to know the exact countertop height, etc., therefore kitchen planning and execution planning depend on each other and one cannot work without the other.

We have a ribbon window like that too: it sits almost on the worktop, about 50-60cm high above it are long wall cabinets. I just don’t know how the window then looks from the outside, I mean on your house... I think probably not. I think a cabinet "at eye level" is good for quickly grabbing a glass or a cup without having to bend down. Anyway: I wouldn’t make it complicated for you and there isn’t much you can do anyway. Place the dining table parallel to the SW window. Put the tall cabinets on the stair wall, at least 2 for fridge and oven, better 3, so extend the wall. The east wall is maybe just 3.20-3.40m... so handy. Looking at the facade again, I have to say: remove the corner window. Remove the east window. Place the south window on the wall (outside). I imagine it looks better. More pleasing, because the Evk windows in every floor emphasize the height of the house and that’s not what you want. So equip the windowless east wall with the stove, put the sink under the window in the south. Maybe a small work island could still be added? That can only be tried out with measurements.

Sorry, the word necessary is missing here.

I always like Yvonne's idea. But here I would try to keep the corner window. The room needs every ray of light, since you can't expect much from the west side - there's a tree standing there. :)
