A storage room is probably also missing if you build without a basement? Small pantry cabinets are certainly feasible, but where to put the drink crates?

Back then, before the approval meeting with the house builder, we approached a kitchen builder (small furniture store) and got advice in advance. He had good ideas and suggestions that we implemented almost 1-to-1. Price-wise, the small furniture store was also the best. We only obtained two or three other offers from the big ones for comparison... same brand, same fronts, kitchen appliances similar and almost identical....

I would maybe speak with a kitchen builder in advance (you surely have acquaintances who can recommend one to you – or neighbors who were satisfied).

Hello everyone,

first of all, thank you for your previous answers!

For now, I am mainly interested in what one could do without planning every cm exactly. I am more looking for suggestions since we are not fixed on anything specific ourselves.

We are building a large garage with an extension + a walkable attic as a replacement for a basement.

I would try to see if it's possible to integrate a small pantry. I'm so happy about it, even if ours only measures 2.2 sqm.

What comes to mind spontaneously. Maybe just as a thought starter. We have a similar floor plan. Our cooktop is in the corner where your sink is right now. Above it, you can install the range hood more nicely than next to the window. The sink is to the left of it in front of the window. The window has fixed glazing in the lower part. Even though not much is washed by hand anymore, I still like the view. And what would be important to me is that a 90cm cooktop can be installed. Unfortunately, that’s no longer possible for us afterwards. My sister-in-law had a corner sink and was very unhappy with it.

The pantry is still missing, or are you insulating the garage so well that there are no subzero temperatures in winter and no 35-degree heat in summer?

I would install a pantry on the existing large kitchen wall, start with the sliding door to the kitchen and then build a U or G shape, and remove one floor-to-ceiling window. Unfortunately, it is in the way for everything, and one gets annoyed about a large kitchen that is still too small....

Thank you for the suggestions.

We saw a corner sink during a tour in the furniture store. What are the disadvantages of a corner sink?

A pantry would certainly be a nice thing.

We also considered omitting the floor-to-ceiling window. Since we have these 4 times on the house side (2 times on the ground floor, 2 times on the upper floor), I think both on the ground floor would have to be omitted due to symmetry.
