A corner sink is unpleasant/inconvenient for "working"... Even when washing up with two people, one always ends up standing somewhat awkwardly aside...

Where is your wardrobe going to go? The WC: should a shower be added there? Otherwise, the WC is anyway too big. Keep in mind: only a chest of drawers fits under the stairs, but not a wardrobe -> it’s best to close off the lower part of the stairs for a storage room. Corner sink/corner stove: not exactly stylish, unless you have to save space during a kitchen renovation. Also, you need a 90 cm countertop, which is expensive.

Originally, our kitchen was also rather square. I found that a waste of space and, moreover, the walking distances in the kitchen increased unnecessarily.

Therefore, we carved out a narrow little room and made it accessible from the hallway – it’s a kind of built-in wardrobe/coat corner. Behind it, in a niche, are three tall cabinets. Next to it is the pantry, which is about twice as deep as the wardrobe and, logically, accessible from the kitchen.

In hindsight, the wardrobe could have been considerably more spacious – 4 people need an unbelievable amount of clothes, especially during the transitional seasons.

I really like American kitchens. I can well imagine that at your place too: just a single-line kitchen along the back wall and then an island, for example with the stove on it.

I have mentioned it a few times already, but it fits perfectly here again, in my eyes:

Since I think islands are always in the way, we chose a countertop depth of 80 cm all around to reduce the "dance floor" in the middle.

We are very happy with that. There is still enough space to work in front of various kitchen appliances, which greatly increases the effectively usable length of the countertop.

Correspondingly, there are extra-deep drawer cabinets. These are very practical, especially when it comes to placing large, round things inside. (And that is supposed to happen in kitchens! ;-)

The surcharge for both was "reasonable" with our kitchen manufacturer. So not twice as expensive but appropriate to the ratio, about 20% more per cabinet and running meter of countertop.

Additionally, a drawer depth of 76 cm – and 100% extendable thanks to the Blum slide, TOP :-)
