Good day,

we have now created a concept for a kitchen design and would like to gather further opinions on the draft. The kitchen is to be moved to a new room, connection options are available.

What do you think of the layout of the kitchen? Is there anything that should be particularly considered with an island?

    [*]no suitable work surface
[*]what's the point of open compartments in the base units that collect dust?
[*]1-2-2 grid - waste of storage space
[*]Ikea is not cheap - sometimes a kitchen from a small kitchen studio is cheaper and you have much more flexibility with the cabinets.

my tip: search on Google for kitchen planning board and a more suitable forum with kitchen professionals will surely appear in the search results ;) It should be the first link after the ads.

I don't really like the whole thing.

- You have little workspace. Don't you want to put anything on the countertop?
- I think the layout results in very little kitchen area. You have a lot of unused space... where does the door next to the tall cabinet wall lead to? And why the room change at all?
- Visually, I don't think country style goes well with this modern niche wall, but maybe it looks better in person.
- How big is the distance from the row to the island? In my opinion, it shouldn't be more than 120 cm.
- Have you ever done a proper storage planning, where things should go?

You gain counter space if you place the stove where the sink is. Then you can also easily install a range hood just above it. I would then place the oven conventionally under the stove, thus gaining counter space to the left of the stove. Wall ovens are currently modern, but they are not always the best solution. And honestly - how often do you take a 30-kilogram roasting pan with goose out of the oven that you absolutely need an ergonomic working height. Unless the water lines cannot be installed in the island.

Unfortunately, I can no longer log into the mentioned forum. I don’t remember the password, but I also don’t receive any email for renewal… But of course I can see and read the new post. There is much more information than is available here, but in the hand sketch you can’t even tell which “corner” it is. At least you are well taken care of there.

I also see deficits in the draft: there are no shelves for the mentioned electrical devices and utensils.

Personally, I don’t like this new design form with the narrow countertop plus tall cabinets on both sides either. But that may be a matter of taste. For me, it feels cramped on the left, right, and top. Even if it’s not ergonomic, I would continue the kitchen wall around the corner at the back. However, it is nowhere mentioned or shown what is at the corner. The drawing is closed there, but also where the access to the living room? is. There is supposed to be a utility room, where is it?

Details that I cannot see in the pictures but that come to mind: The hob should be flush with the countertop (recessed), because then pots can be slid back and forth more easily .... and the sink must not have an edge over which you always have to "lift" the wiping water. For the sink with the adjacent work surfaces, I think stainless steel is the best solution (my wife doesn't find that so stylish ... but I do) A wooden worktop may have advantages, but it moves. That is why all adjoining joints become slightly leaky. Is a good solution for waste separation planned?
