I would also only choose a sink in stainless steel. But that's something different. This is about countertops, right?

Yes, it is about the countertop, but I believe that there are more problems with a countertop than with a sink. The much larger surfaces are more prone to stress cracks.

So risk = area of the material * frequency of maneuvers with objects within the range * complexity of the maneuvers * impact resistance of the material * hardness of the objects

So, before deciding on which material to choose, I researched a lot on the topic of material/durability. I agree with you about sinks; many people personally told me about their bad experiences with them, and you can find many such opinions on the internet as well. I can't say the same for countertops. Of the three kitchen studios that were in the running, all three said that ceramic was, in their opinion, the most durable and that they had the fewest complaints about it. One reported having only two breaks so far, but that was because someone stood on the 12mm ceramic countertop in the area of the stove cutout to work on the ceiling hood... which isn't very clever. Similar findings on the internet. Of course, you can find someone who had damage when searching. But that happens with all materials. The consensus from my research on the internet is that ceramic is the most durable material you can get for a kitchen.

I think we will go with granite, but we will also discuss quartz again with the kitchen builder and request a price.

Thank you very much for your help.

I have one more question about the oven: should we get an oven with or without steam cooking function?

Does anyone have experience with the steam cooking function?

Does anyone have experience with the 4D hot air? Can it replace a hot air fryer?

Unfortunately, I have no experience, but I have decided for myself that I would like to have it, but do not need it and certainly do not want to pay for it (except if Blackfriday offers something).
