Yes, combined it would be more expensive, but maybe it still fits within your budget.

I just checked again because I received the price list from our builder at the time:
Cross-gable, 3.84 x 1.42: €17,740
Cross-gable, 2.64 x 1.42: €11,990
Dormer, 3.48: €6,990
Dormer, 4.68: €9,390

House enlargement by 60 cm approx. €16,000 (oral statement)

This way you might get an overview of the prices. We also wanted a cross-gable at first. The small one brought no gain in space and almost €18k for the large cross-gable was too expensive for us. For that price, you could really include other things.

So, I would at least widen the house by 40cm and add a 3m dormer on top. Then the costs should be about the same.
GF:
1. Dining table then on the left opposite the kitchen.
2. Pantry on the north side and move the kitchen forward.
3. New stair location is somewhat better! In my opinion, the shower on the ground floor can go. You are only three after all, and guests will probably sleep somewhere upstairs (office) and shower there. Instead, enlarge the utility room.
UG:
Then assign the entire dormer to the children's room as in the "new" plan.

For 3 people without a guest room on the ground floor, no shower is needed on the ground floor... true. If the bay window is for aesthetic reasons, which you like, then you can also design the middle of the house optically with plaster up to the dormer, while the rest is brick-clad (or vice versa). This is then like a bay window, just visually, no projection.

I also think that it is better to invest in the size of the house. We also waived bay windows and dormers and instead enlarged the house dimensions and made use of the allowed knee wall. The (new) arrangement in your sketch reminds me a bit of our floor plan. We also have the entrance in the east, the utility room (5 sqm) and the WC (3 sqm) come first and then the half-landing staircase is in the middle of the house. Behind the kitchen, we placed the utility/storage room (7 sqm). You could do something like that... You can take a look at my profile... For us, it is 158 sqm of living and usable area (145 sqm living area)

Hey, we really like your floor plan, how are the lighting conditions on the upper floor (stairs/hallway)? And what kind of room is that in the bathroom? Size of the bathroom?

The shower on the ground floor has nothing to do with guests or anything like that, it's more of a precaution on my part in case I get old and the stairs then become a barrier, which may sound far-fetched to some.

But then also plan a room on the ground floor near the shower and make the shower toilet spacious enough, otherwise it’s only half-heartedly planned.
A guest room is well suited for a later bedroom/elderly room.
