Hello everyone,
how would you lay the tiles (wood look, 30x120)? Crosswise or lengthwise to the windows?
The tiler says crosswise because of the expansion joints (cement screed), and the floor layer says lengthwise to the windows because of the grazing light, that’s also how you would do it with parquet and laminate.
You could better conceal the expansion joint in the kitchen and living room with crosswise.
Furthermore, the tiler advises a maximum joint offset of 20 cm because all tiles are basically uneven.

What do the experts say?

Hello .. living room and kitchen across. Hallway good question .. it then looks a bit unusual from the entrance. The other 3 rooms are somewhat secondary. Normally, you lay this kind of thing in an endless pattern and installation system. Then it doesn't matter how *crooked* the tiles are. At that length, it always looks sh.. no matter what. Regards

a) do not change direction between rooms
b) towards the light -> so lengthwise
c) usually with the room -> so lengthwise

(längs means from "top" to "bottom" on your plan -> | )

Normally the short sides face the light. Corridors are determined by the layout direction of the rooms. Whoever pays, calls the shots. So you can also do it however you want.

Overrated point imho. There is no right or wrong. I would also do "längs" here, as previously described. That will look better in the hallway.

We start with the most important room on the same floor, which for us is the kitchen-dining-living area, and lay the tiles perpendicular to the room so it doesn’t become more like a corridor. The hallway and office are then oriented accordingly. In the hallway it coincidentally matches the dimensions, in the office it is lengthwise, but since it’s not as nice there, we want it very small and not too different in aspect ratio.
