Sounds terrible! I like working in the garden, but I am glad to earn my living in an office.

The wife of our [Gala-Bauers] designs gardens and helps her husband and his crew in the evenings. The heavy stuff was placed, at least with us, using a wheel loader and chain.

Basalit Antik from Berding Beton are the pavers. We are now considering sand color or terracotta brown.

We went to the building materials store again and got some advice. The dealer said that one could consider ceramic composite slabs for the terrace. Concrete would fade over time - too small formats would be maintenance-intensive. Does anyone have experience with this type of terrace covering? We would lay them in split. For 40 sqm (terraces) it would be about €2,000 more.

Ceramic composite panels?

Never heard of it. We have porcelain stoneware tiles (see above).

Is it possibly the same thing?

As I understand it, this is fine stoneware applied on concrete and thus also to be laid in gravel and frost-resistant (whereas the suitable fine stoneware is as well).

Correct. I don't see the added value either.

You can lay porcelain stoneware slabs both in gravel and in [Trasszement]. With us, they are laid in [Trasszement], which is completely water-permeable and of course also frost-resistant.

Additional costs compared to laying in gravel are about €300 for approximately 75sqm terrace area.

The slabs are slip-resistant, scratch-resistant, and very dirt-resistant. They have a water absorption rate of less than 0.2%. Dirt can be easily wiped off or sometimes even "cleaned off with a pressure washer."

The price per sqm for us was €55 gross. For decent concrete slabs with surface treatment, you don't pay less either.
