Why walk around the house? The entire entrance area including the driveway - so the place where the parking spaces are even marked on the site plan - is, of course, on the street that is not the one of the front garden. The front garden would then be basically on the side of the house.

But here it already contradicts itself and so I obviously can't make any progress.

You are stuck simply because 1. there is no clear question from you and 2. you don’t believe the statement of a company that should know what they’re talking about.

Regarding 1.: you write around so often about what you actually want that I halfway thought it was *exclusively* about the position of the front door. I still can’t think of any reason why any authority should be interested in whether the front door is on the east/south/west or north side.

Apparently, it is also about whether you have to or can make your garage exit onto street A or street B. In principle, that should be clear from the development plan. In principle, your contractor should be able to answer that for you (someone you should either trust or consider changing).

In the forum, especially without knowledge of the development plan, no one will be able to tell you what the situation is. Of course, you can clarify the whole thing through a building preliminary inquiry or by another, structured (!) call to the building authority. However, if you present yourself there just as unstructured as here at times, or if the development plan already provides a clear answer, I understand the clerk’s attitude about why they don’t have the time or desire to hold your hand…

We also basically have a corner plot. It didn’t matter where the entrance was placed. However, we were quite clearly told on which side the garage and parking spaces would be located.

Corner lot!

Are you good at shoveling snow? I experienced it for the first time this year.

We have a corner lot, the position of the garage and the entrance could be freely chosen and do not resemble the neighbors'.

Now to your problem: if you are unsure, why don't you call the building authority? That was absolutely no problem for us.

Snow is only on the streets if at all. We only have a 4-meter driveway, the rest is green, so not much snow, especially since it’s secondary in the Rhineland anyway.

For us, things like a quiet area were more important, meaning we didn’t necessarily want to drive into our garage by the neighbor’s terrace.

The access belongs to the development! You know: this lowered curb edge...
That's what this is about, right?

Or are you asking us here how you are allowed to build your house?

Which way your front door faces is SO irrelevant, the term front garden also needs to be defined first.

And now, off topic regarding your comprehension and your constant complaints about the users' answers:

If you communicate with your building partners the same way, you shouldn't be surprised if the craftspeople leave again faster than you can order a special service.
