Jochen and construction expert.. Thank you for your answers.
: Yes, that was actually what I wanted too. That is to say, the double garage in the basement, possibly also the terrace to be basemented. However, the driveway from the side seems very tight (placing the driveway behind the house would be nonsense, and a car always driving in backwards as well). But I still have this topic on my list and have my new architect/construction contractor check it.
Of course, it doesn't look very nice when the gable side is completely exposed over 3 floors, but it would be like that.
: Exactly, now we are at this point where I have not gotten any further with the model house representatives so far, because these questions and options always remained unanswered for me. That’s why I looked for an appropriate ASP in my region or tried to inform myself through forums.
That’s exactly what we are trying now. The topic "downsizing" vs. "cosiness" is coming up quickly.
I wish I had chosen this path from the start and discovered this forum; for that I want to THANK everyone here once again.
The curious thing is, we always wanted a simple house, 2-3 kids, rural-inspired with a gable roof, kitchen at the street, dining/living area, guest WC on the ground floor, the rest in the upper floor, and a garage for 2 cars, which are definitely needed here in the countryside. BOOM.... that’s what you get, crazy
On the other hand, you need a certain amount of space when you have a family with 2-3 kids (at least nowadays and building like 50 years ago is not really an option)

The prioritized question you should answer yourself: do you really need this space? Then talk to your architect and ask for the costs of a budget-oriented planning; there is still a lot possible here without the single-family house having to appear built as a bunker. For this, however, you also have to engage with the architect and free yourself from the planning in your head.
