Hello,

I had hoped to get answers beyond the personal understanding of comfort; so I’m not that far off after all

I will soon take a stopwatch into the shower; I don’t - at least by feeling - have to wait 30 seconds before it burns my skin AND I get cold water

I don’t understand that even with 2 - now grown up children ....?

It’s not quite like that; even aside from the question of whether saving water is sensible or not.

A circulation line is included in the calculation of heat loss of a newly constructed building. Installing such a line can nibble away a good 10% of the desired goal.

I don’t want to blame you; I just want to understand it

Rhine greetings

Construction expert, I don't have to mix anything - so you don't have a thermostat in the shower?

Nice that it goes quickly for you - cheap pipe installation? That's just not possible everywhere, and that's why there is circulation.

Why with small children? The milk bottles have to be rinsed nicely hot, otherwise residues don't come off well - since this is done often, long waiting annoys me. Well, of course it's only a matter of time.

Good morning,

it got later than intended...

No, these thermostats always remind me of going to the swimming pool; I don’t like that.

I used to regularly boil the bottles; just rinsing them under hot water seemed half-hearted to me. When my granddaughter was born, they went into the dishwasher and I only boiled the nipples separately. In that respect, I don’t miss anything and still prepare hot water separately, namely when I need it, and don’t store it in the pipes. But that can simply be a “habit.”

To swimming pools? Well, tastes are like that – after all, these things come in all kinds of shapes. I find single-lever mixers quite old-fashioned (although we will have one at the bathtub too).

In infancy, we also boiled things out, but later (from about one year old) that is no longer necessary, so we rinse the bottles and only boil the nipples. But to get rid of the milk stuff, besides good dish soap, you need a higher water temperature .

Off topic: Thanks for the explanation, but I hopefully only misunderstood your remark about being tedious: I don’t want to discuss this (although I have a different opinion) – I referred to the house rules myself, to which I of course submit as a guest...

Still, it’s kind of strange – sometimes things get consistently deleted (and by that I mean links to other forums, wikis, etc.), then such things stay up for "informative reasons," even though they point to an ad-filled, profit-oriented site that also conveys a rather one-sided (although occasionally different) view?

Well, I don’t care in principle, but then just take it as a simple note that such things lead to confusion & irritation – sure, you can assert your right to taste, but that does have a certain sting to it and runs more contrary to the job of a moderator .

But well, thanks again for the open response.

Maybe I would then ask myself why the rule always has to be explained again - it doesn't seem to be entirely understandable then.

Your view of Wiki is already very prejudiced - and old. Especially references have become practically mandatory there and are subject to strict self-monitoring by the readership.

What does an article in Zeit do differently? Because it was written by a journalist? Because there are names of people and their supposedly reputable sounding positions? Have you thoroughly examined all that or are you ready to accept it blindly?

But as I said, let's just leave it - it leads to no change or a rethinking.

Hello,

back to the topic of the circulation pump:

We have installed a "learning" circulation pump that analyzed during the first few weeks when we drew warm water at which withdrawal point – these were mostly the shower and bathroom sink in the mornings and evenings.

The pump now runs independently at these times and we immediately have warm water. However, if we were to shower once at 3:00 AM, we would have to wait briefly for warm water.

If the usual times change, our pump learns this as well and would then operate at these times too.

In our opinion, this type of pump is a reasonable compromise.

Regards,

Dirk
