We completely did floors and walls, with the exception of the bathrooms. Although that was probably a mistake, since the house provider’s subcontractor tiler was a botcher, unfortunately within all tolerances. I should have stuck to it.

well, what exactly did we do: 600 sqm primed, twice 1200 m wallpaper applied (65 rolls) Everything painted twice 100 sqm cork laid, 30 sqm tiles done 40 sqm parquet laid.

We needed 9 full weekends and 8 extra days for this. Sometimes with one man as a helper. Far more than we estimated beforehand.

We may have saved around 7-9000 €. I better don’t count the hours we spent roaming furniture stores. But we had to buy almost everything new because we were very spartanly furnished (student apartment). And since we don’t have a money tree, we had to compare many prices and accept long distances. Our little one has to go for the inspection soon, I think he already did the first 1000 km in his child seat :)

Luckily, we don’t have quite as many m² as you. ;)
It should only be about 450-500m² of wall and ceiling surfaces.

Fortunately, we’re taking most of the furniture with us as well.
Only the couch, coffee table, bathroom fixtures, a few scattered cabinets, and our problem child, the kitchen extension, are missing.
The extension with a tall cabinet, a corner carousel, new countertops with finishing strips would cost us just as much as the entire kitchen including appliances has cost so far. Negotiations are still pending.

We’ve already kept an eye on the furniture over the past few weeks. I think this will still be on the agenda a few more times during the quieter period.

Honestly, I dread sorting out the cabinets/cellar.

Well, for me it's free under the motto, everything that I haven't tackled in the last 3 years must go.
The conclusion is, I think I could have ordered a container instead of constantly having to drive to the [Wertstoffhof]. It's unbelievable how much junk you can accumulate in 15 years.
This will end this weekend... then we move in, and we won't have a basement anymore ;)

People,

when I read this, I realize how quickly you forget the unpleasant times! The move was almost exactly a year ago and there is still stuff to do :) But luckily only small things in the garden. I started clearing out the basement more than a year before the move but also started filling it again with bargain items that you need for the house anyway :) And using the container is actually not a bad idea!

Oh yes, the gray area... we are already in it while waiting for the drafts and the cost estimate from the architect  ... just terrible when you are eagerly waiting for it. And now we have to wait almost another week!! I don’t even want to know what will come at us during the approval process :( But maybe it is like Nordanney says and then we will be busy with the tenders – if we decide to build with the architect (which we expect). So first of all, we have to get through this week to finally have certainty whether our dream house is feasible :) Best regards milkie
