Is quite sturdy and also very hygienic (depending on the version of course – there are always different qualities). However, it is priced at the higher end. I myself have no experience with a glass top yet, but I am also tempted by it. The people are enthusiastic about it when you are willing to pay the appropriate additional cost. And visually, of course, it's awesome. :D

We ordered the stone slab from Ikea. It’s not granite, but it looks just as TOP and is from a German brand company that also supplies other kitchen manufacturers. Only, it costs a lot more there.

I have had a granite countertop for years. I just think it’s great. I wouldn’t want anything else :)

Hm - we are still working on the floor plan of the house - but since I am a professional hobby cook, I am already dealing with the kitchen - the house will practically be built around it - or rather, the kitchen should be designed so that everything I want fits inside.

I have already come across the topic of countertops - since I want a white kitchen and a dark floor, I currently favor granite. However, it needs to be maintained regularly and I have often been told that if, for example, you leave a bottle of red wine standing overnight, the possible stains are difficult to remove.

Currently, I am also considering ceramic - but I have not yet found any reviews about it.

I advise against plastic - my mother replaced her 15-year-old Gerberit countertop five years ago and now she has plastic - the countertop has very fine scratches everywhere - especially in spots where she places her wooden, glass, and plastic cutting boards - apparently, moving them back and forth causes these fine scratches.

So, I have a granite countertop and I am super satisfied with it! Very sturdy, quick and easy to clean. And cutting on it, I think that's great, it's true that the knives do wear out faster, but I simply have a knife sharpener and sharpen them regularly. The difference isn't that big. And above all, I believe that a granite countertop looks beautiful for much longer :D

We ordered a new kitchen for our new building on Saturday.

We chose a 12 mm glass countertop, satin-finished without a carrier plate, from Lechner.

The kitchen is lacquer white without handles, the countertop in a matte glass green called Legato 191. We found the color combination very beautiful.

Why a glass countertop: When the consultant slammed a cooking pot onto the countertop without warning and there was not even a hint of damage or a scratch, we were astonished.

Then, when he scratched the surface with my bunch of keys and the front door key with full force and the "scratches" turned out to be just abrasion from my key that disappeared after wiping with a damp cloth, we agreed: nothing else would do for us except a glass countertop.

Disadvantage: Expensive, we pay about €4000 more for the countertop alone compared to a granite countertop. Important: It must be a satin-finished countertop. Lechner or AKP or other providers also offer glossy countertops, which are not scratch-resistant. You won’t have any fun with those.

I also got offers from the internet. Their prices per m² were significantly cheaper. But in the end, the risk of buying the countertop for the run and the island separately was too big for us. Having installation and warranty from one source was then too important to us.

Ergo: If possible, I would recommend a glass countertop, very robust and visually appealing; granite and quartz composite countertops are available everywhere anyway...

Regards
