Flooring. Laminate, engineered parquet, vinyl? Where is the best place to buy?

We also wipe our parquet with parquet soap. It goes normally into the cleaning water. Wiping is done with a cotton attachment for the mop.

Extra effort compared to wiping other floors => none.

We have never oiled it again 1.5 years after moving in. The floor still looks like on the first day.

One way or another, you have to want it and like it (even if at some point it has one flaw or another). What is still a plus point for me with parquet: it still looks good with flaws*. You can't say that about many other floors.

*Of course, that is in the eye of the beholder.

Had to smile a bit about the criticism that you shouldn’t clean parquet with microfiber. Yes, that’s correct, because the microfiber removes the oil from the surface.

But you know that and use a cotton attachment for the mop anyway. So where’s the problem?!

Here’s a photo of the cotton attachment, the parquet soap, and the oil refresher, which we haven’t used yet:

The oil refresher also goes into the cleaning water. You apply it by mopping and then wipe the floor dry with a bucket of clean water. That’s it.

It must also be said that oiled parquet flooring is by no means as easy to wipe damply as laminate. Due to the oiled surface, the floor is not as mirror-smooth as a lacquered floor or laminate. You really have to wipe the floor with the mop using quite a bit of force. I can imagine that many gentlemen will comment here who do not mop the floor themselves or do not have much strength. I definitely prefer to mop our tiled floor, that is comparatively much easier. You just have to consider what you want. If you always enter the floor without shoes and do not have large pets, then you will surely be happy with parquet; otherwise, there are also more durable floors that are easier to care for.

Best regards
Sabine

I cannot understand that. I don’t find mopping our parquet more laborious than mopping our tiles. With the right mop attachment (see above), you also don’t have to mop more forcefully. At least, that is my experience so far after 1.5 years.

That’s why it’s called wiping and not scrubbing
