Hi,

we have fixed, floor-to-ceiling windows in the stairwell and the cloakroom. One is 76 rough construction measure and the other 101. I have attached the views. Maybe that helps a bit.

Personally, I find the slimmer ones visually nicer, but it depends on the lighting conditions whether it is sufficient. The 76 ones were too small for the stairwell for us.

Roughly speaking, with fixed windows, you will have a glass width = rough construction width - 15 cm.

It is always a compromise between the interior view and the exterior view. What looks nice from the outside does not necessarily have to be the best for the internal lighting conditions and vice versa...

Best regards,

Andreas

If you are still completely free, I would make it dependent on the other windows of the facade. For example, if you plan a light strip element horizontally with 220 x 76, a matching one in "portrait format" would also look good. In the kitchen, I can also well imagine a parapet of about 40/50 cm, if you then go to a length of 180.

Of course all that exists, but just show me the dimensions of built-in refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, etc. for your recommended 80cm. All appliances are normally designed for 60cm elements. For example, a pull-out pantry cabinet is often really smaller (we have 40cm). And as I already said, you can get a very good idea where things might be going with the Ikea planner. The planner offers almost all relevant sizes. In the kitchen store, the cabinet elements are basically the same. Only the fronts differ, and of course the appliances. Those who are not afraid to assemble themselves can get a high-quality kitchen for less money with the Ikea cabinets and self-ordered electrical appliances (of course ordered online).

And, I can only keep emphasizing it, especially with smaller or awkwardly shaped kitchens, the Ikea width options of only 20, 40, 60, and 80 cm often limit your planning. The widths of other usual kitchen manufacturers range in the standard sizes of 15, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, 80, 90, 100, 120 cm. And for a small extra charge, many manufacturers also offer a custom width. This often allows for more optimal kitchen designs.

Of course, we know very little and if you want a fixed window, then you shall have it (he who pays the piper calls the tune)! On the other hand, hardly any newly built houses (and kitchens) are planned around fixed windows. As a rule, requirements number 1 to 99 are of a completely different nature and the windows then "automatically" result from the design process. And when the floor plan and elevations are set, then one can deal with the question of whether this or that window shall/can be fixed.

I also dare to claim that in five years it will be completely irrelevant to you whether your house has that window or not. It comes down to completely different things, and those are what you should focus on.

Just my 2 cents ...
