That about the stairwell is correct. So the staircase rather in the middle of the north side of the house?
Well, you need to know what you want. The worst location for a staircase is actually right at the front door (because you always walk through the dirt from outside) - unless you are planning a spatial layout at some point where the living staircase is converted into the stairwell.
The external staircase is therefore rather standard in houses with two residential units.
But opinions differ: for some, the staircase is a stylish living feature; to others, the opposite.
I haven’t quite understood the kitchen thing yet. It would actually be right in the middle of the apartment?
At the moment it would be - of course some changes will need to be made again. For me, the location of the kitchen or the open area in front of it (dining area or elsewhere) is always connected to the terrace. After all, you set the table outside, get something to drink from outside, or barbecue – you want short paths to the kitchen. A terrace is like the dining table where daily life happens.
I would be surprised if one walks from the sofa to the lounger and back again.
Also, the area in front of the terrace is not exactly the cleanest (grass clippings, sand, etc.), which you would rather not have during an evening tête-à-tête next to the sofa. A kitchen is swept more often. The living room is thus for relaxing when nothing is going on on the terrace (solar eclipse, winter, night, or rain).
How does one actually get to the front door? On average, it looks as if there is a slope there?!
For me, the uninviting corridor in the basement is a no-go. You will use it as an entrance, which would be a bit too creepy for me. But if the staircase is moved to the middle of the house, it might loosen things up a bit. This would then result in a different layout regarding the office and hobby room.
