Might still have a solution:

if you could do without the kitchen island, which in my opinion takes up an extreme amount of space in both versions that you don't have, then I would recommend an L-shaped kitchen for you in version 2 and place the table crosswise – so turn it 90 degrees. Then it doesn't all feel so cramped.

I would DEFINITELY NOT remove the wall to the stairwell. I once lived in a terraced house like that – never again. The stairwell then becomes a great chimney. Warm air rises, cold basement air comes up, not to mention the noise and odor pollution you then have throughout the house – especially when there are children around.

Hello everyone,

it is true that the wall between the living room and the hallway/stairs is not a load-bearing wall, but the wall was installed at our request for the same reasons Manu already mentioned. Therefore, the wall will remain in place.

However, I find Manu's idea with the L-shaped kitchen in variant 2 very interesting. If I then place the dining table accordingly and rotate the sofa by 90° and put it against the lower wall, I can create a room divider over half the width for the television. I will draw this up this evening.

You have to provide the complete floor plan, then the girls can plan something really great for you there. And they really know a lot!

My kitchen idea was similar to Manu's. However, I would keep the island. I would make it smaller as a work island and rotate a large table 90 degrees and place it in front of the island. I would accommodate the stove and sink in the L-shaped kitchen.

However, I would leave the living area as it is and do without the room divider. The space between the sofa and the table can be perfectly used as a play area. :-)
