Hello and thanks again for the feedback! Maybe to provide a few more framework data: The plot is about 50m long and 20m wide and has a nice slope view to the west. The building area is 15x15 m at the upper part of the slope towards the street; at the top it is about 8-10m (from the start of the building area).

Our idea was naturally to capture as much sun and view as possible, so the house is to be oriented westward. The neighbors have similar plots and their houses are about 6-8 m away from the building area.

Since there is also some noise exposure from the north and of course little sun, we wanted to build the carport on the north side. Since it may be basemented for utility purposes, I thought the idea of extending it all the way to the house front to use it as a terrace was good. Hence the idea with the entrance protected by the carport from the north. The external shape as a rectangle also seemed reasonable to capture a lot of light and have a large living/kitchen room.
Now I don’t want to cut up the living room with the stairs, nor should they be too far from the entrance. To avoid sacrificing a bright living area with stair space downstairs, we wanted to put the stairs as far back as possible in the basement. The middle room downstairs would get a glass front + door so that light falls in from above (windows above the stairs) as well as through the room below. I consider the children’s room between 16-18m2 future-proof. The utility basement area under the carport is to be moderately developed and also have a door to the terrace.

I have now got an appointment with the architect in mid-December, but I still think we have to work out our floor plan ourselves first. That is naturally a rocky road (I never would have thought), but we are already in the middle of it. Thanks again for the comments, I will try to incorporate the last ones this evening.

Until then...

No, it does not harm your ability to neutrally assess other solutions, and if you show your result to the architect, it does not harm his creativity to find a good solution either.

Instead, be sure to make a list of the things that are important to you, as in my post above regarding sleeping, bathroom, etc., of course as detailed as possible.

Regards

Hello, it took a bit longer after all... Ok, I have now spoken with various experts like architects about the design. Even if I am not yet 100% happy, or perhaps because of that, I want to put it here up for discussion again. If you criticize something, please also suggest a possible improvement, only that helps me.. I am now considering building the carport with a basement in front of the house or only with a prefabricated basement next to the house...

Where is the front door? Does the children's room have windows?

Hello,

I am missing the windows in the basement.

I also see the relatively narrow passage between the front door / stairs and the kitchen wall as critical.

The kitchen island can hardly be placed like this either - the passage is estimated to be about 50 cm wide...

Regards,

Dirk
