That's also the general thing, "everything" or rather "a lot" is always possible. Everyone should just ask themselves whether they like the consequences. There are certainly people who don't care about such things, then it fits after all. That's why I also mentioned the splash guard, where there are again different opinions regarding the minimum width. Likewise, it can happen that you don't hit the boundary exactly to the centimeter (in my case it was completely botched but unfortunately noticed too late) and when that happens on both sides you are missing a few centimeters again in an already tight spot.

Which is also why the clinker brick should be fully colored.

Yes, completely right. In the current planning, we are shifting the house a bit further south to ease the situation in the north. Then there will be a platform in front of the entrance, which at the same time also marks the end of the splash guard in that direction. Under the carport roof, it is not needed.
We are still not sure whether we will implement ypg’s idea regarding the orientation of the bike shed in that way, but otherwise we already like the entrance better now.

Regarding the windows:

The general contractor's offer currently includes plastic windows from Kneer Süd Fenster, specifically the KF 700.
Key data KF 700:

[*]THERMAL INSULATION UP TO 0.68 W/m²K
[*]SOUND INSULATION UP TO CLASS 4
[*]BURGLAR PROTECTION UP TO RC 2

The question is, is this sufficient or should one rather upgrade to the KF 734 S, maybe only in the bedrooms.
Key data KF 734 S:

[*]THERMAL INSULATION UP TO 0.73 W/m²K
[*]SOUND INSULATION UP TO CLASS 5
[*]BURGLAR PROTECTION UP TO RC 3

Or are these windows maybe rubbish anyway and one should choose something completely different?

The offer says the following about the windows:

All windows made of fully reinforced white plastic system KF 700 with:

    [*]3-pane thermal insulation glazing with Ug value = 0.5 W/m K
[*]Central sealing system with 3 seals
    [*]Installation depth: 80 mm
    [*]Number of chambers: 6 chambers
[*]Material: fiber composite made of the high-tech material RAU-FIPRO®, continuous coextruded outer layer of high-quality RAU-PVC for best surface quality
[*]Windows tested according to RAL and CE
[*]Uw of the window 0.68 W/(m°K) according to DIN EN ISO 10077-1:2006 for reference size 1230*1480mm

Light glass:

    [*]Extra light triple insulation
    [*]CLIMATOP XN Extra Light
    [*]Glass weight: 22.5 kg/m
[*]Sound insulation value of window 37dB with standard glass and asymmetric glass construction.

Background information: The house itself is located in a new development area, so no loud traffic is expected directly in front of the door. However, about 110 meters to the north or northeast runs a country road and the town exit is exactly there. In between are trees and a few other houses.
A few simple rough calculations suggest that even the KF 700 with its 37dB sound insulation should be sufficient so that nothing is heard inside even with heavy traffic. But I would like to have your opinion on that.

The offer also states that the following is added per window (this, of course, does not affect sound insulation):

Security fittings RC 2 N

[*]At least 6 steel mushroom head locks
[*]Sash lifter with integrated misuse lock
    [*]Drilling protection
    [*]Corner bearing with rotary brake
    [*]Surcharge protection
    [*]Lockable handle according to DIN
    [*]Lever-out protection
[*](Exceptions are special shapes (round/slant) and when the minimum size is not met, as well as for tilt windows)

If they provide better sound insulation, basically yes. But bedrooms are mostly used at night, when shutters are added. That doesn't sound like rubbish, and when building with a general contractor I would exceptionally procure the windows through them instead of the installer. See "How many chambers does a window need?" for that. I would generally choose MD, and installation depth, like the number of chambers, says nothing. No explanations can be found on the manufacturer’s website regarding this.

Hello everyone,

after almost exactly one month of silence, I wanted to give a status update on the project.

We took a short break at the beginning of January and then reflected a bit and also questioned previous assumptions.
We also considered the reasons for starting over with a new plan, in which we would immediately say goodbye to some ideas (e.g., the straight staircase) to become more efficient in space utilization.

In the end, however, we decided to continue with the current plan and are now close to signing the contract with the general contractor.
I am attaching the current state of the planning here.

There will be no significant changes to the floor plan. Maybe walls will shift a few centimeters, and the detailed bathroom and kitchen planning is still pending. In addition, other aspects of the detailed planning are still missing, such as deciding where the pipes for the central supply and exhaust air should run, etc.

With this, this thread has fulfilled its core purpose for us; thanks again to everyone involved!
If anyone is interested, I would be happy to continue this thread and document the progress in planning and construction and certainly ask the occasional question in the future.
