No, only in the kitchen/living area. I agree with you, the bay window/extension has purely aesthetic reasons.... we like that. However, there are also different options here, which is why I was hoping for suggestions here in the forum...

: Thanks for your suggestion. Just a question, a bay window/extension/conservatory (I don’t know the exact term, I always thought of it as a conservatory bay..), does it really cost that much money? I thought that the windows have to be installed anyway and the floor area actually only refers to the ground floor, right? I also don’t understand why the basement grows accordingly....

For us, it is also incredibly difficult to imagine the whole thing in 3D...

You are enlarging your living space and that costs money.

As I said, if you choose option 1, I would also enlarge the upper floor accordingly. If your budget allows it.

Why does the basement grow as well? That is probably more sensible than having to densify accordingly and possibly having trouble with settlement cracks afterward.
But the experts will probably know better than I do.

Well, what can you say. You are building a huge house with a lot of living space. Maybe instead of the bay window you could design the living room like an "L". That creates a bit more privacy for the living room and also a less narrow feel. Then some kind of visual room divider between dining and living. Possibly a fireplace/piano/seating area/workspace. Also, you would then have a protected terrace that would be easy to roof over. Upstairs everything is quite spacious, could almost be too big. A bedroom with 21 sqm is pretty massive, you could even waltz besides sleeping but well that's a matter of taste. The same goes for the bathroom. I don't really get the point of such a bathroom. You should also ask yourself what you want to do with all that space when the kids are grown up ^^ then you have 300 sqm of living space for 2 people xD.

Personally, I don’t like these square floor plans. They feel so confined and offer little room for individualizing the rooms.

Hello dear forum members,

first of all, THANK YOU all for the constructive criticism. I have quietly read the posts and had my architect draw again. It was mentioned that

- redesign of the bathroom on the upper floor so that it becomes wider and the tub is not pushed under the 2m line
- redesign of the hallway/storage 1 in such a way that on the ground floor there is a wardrobe (shoes, coats, etc.), a proper staircase (also because of the upper floor) and a storage 1 for (ironing board, vacuum cleaner, water crate from garage, space for "smaller" things (my wife wished for that...) ==> nicer useful storage room

Floor plan messed up?

Make straight rooms... no 45° corners. 2.26 m is enough for two normal doors, even without a frame. The bathroom doesn't need 16 m² either, if you plan it properly...
