So, I quite like the architect's version already. However, there will probably be a closet problem in the master bedroom. And why is this one more expensive than your initial version (there was already the technical annex then)? Probably because of the higher upper floor. Wouldn't it really be easiest to keep the outer outlines and leave out the technical annex? Put the technical equipment where you currently have 6.7 m² of wardrobe etc. That should be enough for purely technical purposes. Then have the front door swing the other way and make the 12.7 m² into a proper reception area. Maybe put the shower room or a small office there. A small office would even be practical, then you could possibly omit the west window in the master bedroom, shift the south window 70 cm to the right, and then have the west wall for a proper closet.

Thank you for your effort and the quick response. For ~ 100m² floor area, raising the roof by 1 meter costs us approximately 30,000€ according to the architect's estimate, the technical extension 15,000€ upwards, depending on the size.
Technical room instead of 6.7m² wardrobe and then at the bottom of the plan a mini bathroom and wardrobe is also our idea in the revised draft, which we have then further developed and slightly shrunk the whole thing, after all, we don’t want to build more house than we need.

And about our kitchen ops: ... somehow it was never "finished", the lighting is still improvised, maybe I’ll manage to sort it out someday...

We are talking about 44 linear meters, which are to be raised by 1.00 m. That must – assuming the roof pitch is not changed – in my opinion not cost more than 12,000€ for 36.5 masonry and 15,000€ for 45 masonry. For that, your architect has in my opinion underestimated the costs for the technical room; it will probably be much more expensive to build. So a good idea to put it inside the house. Why does he even have such a hard time presenting a reasonable floor plan? Rhenish greetings

Thanks for the numbers, construction expert! We want to build timber studs, but the price probably won't differ too much. I may have expressed myself a bit unclearly, the numbers do not come directly from the architect, I just recalculated his cost estimate with the changed figures and came to the mentioned values. This cost estimate was simply calculated per m³, 330€/m³ on the ground floor and 310€/m³ on the upper floor (+ larger foundation slab for [Extratechnikraum]). Does anyone else have any thoughts on our own design? =)

No, nothing at all! If you know what I mean. You can see amateur hands at work again – messed up hallway and too many slants.

Go through the tips from ... then you’ll get very close to your house.

The slanted walls and the messed-up hallway are actually the same problem, it's a shame that original ideas are so badly received here. I never claimed that this is a finished floor plan, I talked about a sketch for brainstorming ideas, but whatever. Can someone tell me what is so bad about a hallway with a bend? Expensive? Impractical? I still remember it from my childhood and have lived in all adjoining rooms with a slanted corner without being bothered by it. By the way, the idea came up to have the bedroom with a view of the quiet northern part of the garden with the big trees and the third children's room facing south. On the ground floor, we actually already have a variant suggested by , a utility room instead of a 6.7 m² wardrobe, and then splitting the 12.7 m² room into a wardrobe and bathroom. We also moved the stairs a bit to create more space in the utility room and to enlarge the bathroom upstairs.
