The landscape gardener unfortunately doesn’t always do everything as well as he could... For example, I had made a planting list for the hedge, which he then planted exactly as I had given it to him (so he got the plants, I helped plant them). Unfortunately, it turned out that the soil was too dry for a viburnum, that a witch hazel is better planted with more spacing, and that holly prefers somewhat moister conditions rather than warm and windy. Okay, I could have figured all that out myself beforehand, I guess I really didn’t pay enough attention when choosing. However, I would have actually expected from the landscape gardener, who knew the garden (or the fallow land) because he had looked at it beforehand, that he would say: wait, this plant selection isn’t quite ideal because... do you really want this? Alternatively, it would be better to take xyz. You’re always wiser afterwards, and this example also shows me that you really have to educate yourself well on all topics beforehand if you don’t want to rely on luck to find truly knowledgeable service providers.
