We also used that :) … but it is a drop in the ocean. You can do that with perennials, but not with bushes and the like. Digging up and transplanting costs not only the strength of the plants ;) And a small warning: through a small lavender from a friend’s garden, you can bring ground elder and the like into your garden, which you didn’t have before. Already experienced/had that.

or questions during a walk. Lilac is doing quite well and doesn't grow that slowly. In old gardens there is a lot of seed that is seed-saving. Kindly ask Grandma 3 streets over. Maybe she will also dig up 2 or 3 irises.

Nevertheless, the money goes away

Flower bulbs. The 100 pcs for 4.95 from the promotional flyer have a lot of rejects. Mulch material Soil Tools Fertilizer Support sticks Bed edging etc

I believe a beautiful garden has to grow and that takes time. It has to fit the house and the residents. With us, everything happens in small steps. Not because we have run out of money. Every piece is considered, planned, discarded, replanned

Why shouldn’t you be able to do that with bushes? Many bushes and trees can still be transplanted well at a size of 1 to 2 meters. Sure, it takes strength and the plants need some time to take root, but you can save a lot of money and have hedges of the same size right away. Thujas, for example, transplant quite easily if they are already big but not too old, as does bamboo. Privet also works very well; it’s available in (almost) evergreen varieties, and you can also propagate it easily via cuttings, which don’t take long to grow big. Hydrangeas are easy to transplant; you can cut them back heavily, and they will grow big again the next year. Rhododendrons can also be transplanted as large bushes. There are surely more, these are just my experiences—I only like evergreen plants for hedges.

we have probably spent too much strength and time on our own house that one is too tired for that. Have I already said: from a certain age you also want to experience hanging a hammock from a tree. You can't just dig up a standard tree that easily.. transporting used bushes may work within a village, but not across highways. My goodness, you are right that it works, but only to a limited extent. It’s about the parallel thread here, where the landscape gardener costs. But if thinks that she will manage her garden with cuttings the way she imagines it, then I say: she will no longer experience that garden. It doesn’t work like that. Don’t always generalize what you directly reply to someone here And don’t always think that others build under the same conditions as you do.

It also all depends a lot on the soil. You should consider what kind of plants you want and what type of soil the plant prefers. If I want a rose garden and have sandy soil, it is not enough to just dig a hole and pour in some rose soil. You have to prepare larger amounts of soil thoroughly. Likewise, grass will not be very happy on clay soil. If you only have 80 sqm of garden, you can do many things yourself and also let them grow over the years. If I have no idea about plants and want to design 150 sqm or more, then a garden landscaper is the right contact. Even if it is just for planning the planting.
