It can’t, it must! Or with a roof window. 2 meters height at the front edge of the toilet is standard. For me personally, there could be a whole forest 5 km away - it still remains an uneasy feeling, a peepshow sensation; I wouldn’t want to walk by there in a private/intimate atmosphere. The window front also really hits the budget… At night all cats are gray, and during the day you have daily work. Right? Maybe consider placing the chill lounge (living room, TV room) there. I find the galleries in the children's rooms extremely impractical. But well, it’s up to the children themselves whether they use it permanently. And yes, the façade is a dream, which probably isn’t within the budget. All that costs exquisitely more than a standard façade… One can have taste, but if you want to show it, you have to be able to afford it.

With some minimalist effort, it might be possible like this.

Child 2 can also become the dressing room. The kids then go to the attic. Air space above the living room with gallery.

The wooden beam ceiling should not be a problem. In the middle the beam with a max. 3 m span and then the beam layer on joist hangers.

In the west, the window gets a parapet height of 50 cm and provides good lighting in the west. The one in the north has a parapet height of 1.37 m (a staircase completely as a darkroom is out of the question)

But. First, a structural engineer should look at the foundation in the south. Also the basement. Does it have a concrete slab?

Thank you very much, trapezoidal sheet metal is also an option. It doesn't have to be aluminum or Rheinzink. Maybe the window front will get a balustrade, then it is less dramatic and cheaper. Basically, we have no problem with that. Our living room window is on the south side significantly closer to the street, as it is a corner lot, and if someone looks in once or twice a day, we can live with that. Thank you for your idea, that gives me something to think about. I have attached a section from the old plans.

Do you already live in the house?

I roughly drew the upper floor.

The stairs could also be extended by 2 steps like yours at the bottom, and then shortened a bit at the top.

In the living room a floor-to-ceiling window, then you have two vertical ones over the 2 floors. The same on the east side.
