Then ask at what finished parapet height it is no longer considered a step. And so that a fall protection can end at a height of 90 cm above the finished floor?

What is it about for you? Real safety or a legally compliant approval of the nicest option? Almost everything can be climbed over by a child, if necessary also with a chair. Only fixed glazing helps here. Lockable windows are only a false sense of security, since you also want to open the windows. In the end, the only thing that helps is teaching the children where they are not allowed to climb. If you do it with glass, I would tend to lean towards the lower parapet height.

Hi,

so that

for me the sill height for the other windows would also be set at 50. Keep it simple and don’t mix too much!

Personally, I’m not a fan of these French balconies. Honestly, I find them really ugly. That’s why we split the floor-to-ceiling windows on the upper floor. The bottom part is fixed glazed and only the top part can be opened. It also has the advantage that you can still open the windows even if something is standing in front of the bottom part. Especially in the children’s room, that’s worth its weight in gold... ;-)

Best regards,

Andreas

Thank you very much for the tips and opinions!

I had the same idea last night because of your inquiry... I asked around but have not received a definitive answer yet. It will probably be around 50 cm above finished floor level, I think.

The latter. Our son pushes chairs anyway when he wants to climb somewhere, so I’m fully with you on that.

The issue with the arrangement is true. But we currently have such windows in our apartment and are not so happy with them. The problem is that the horizontal bar is exactly at eye level when sitting and you always look right at this wide bar, which currently bothers us a lot. With the higher parapet height, the part to be opened would also be quite small. That did not please us much in the exterior view either.

That is also our plan, but with 10 or 60 and then 90 cm from the finished floor.

I understand that. But I am surprised that the French balcony doesn’t bother you then.
