Then the rate is reduced and nothing is repaired anymore.
That’s what happened to the previous owner of my house. I can tell you how the previous owner dealt with it:
Leaky pipes are repaired by sticking a felt-tip pen into the hole. Seen in the attached picture at the top right. Forgive me that I can’t find a better picture of it right now.
And is that supposed to be livable or the freedom so highly praised here in the forum, when you live in your own house until the very last second? When I see such accounts and pictures, I always ask myself: Do I want to live/house/live like that, while I see on TV that it can be different?
My clear answer: no, I don’t want that.
I have already given the example of my father (79 years old) here a few times. He lives alone in his house, which he bought in 1974. In some of the rooms, the original windows and balcony and terrace doors are still in place. To heat the building so that he feels comfortable, he needs 2,500 liters of heating oil per year, which equals about 300 euros per month. Since energy costs have been so high, the money is really tight. I don’t even want to talk about the backlog of investments and repairs. The drain in the bathroom is leaking; he doesn’t have it repaired because of the cost. So he just forces himself to go to the laundry room in the basement and somehow washes there.
Our neighbor, the same age, separated from his house several years ago and moved into a 3-room apartment. Monthly heating costs after the increase from October: 50 euros.
