Then you need to have a three-phase 400V/32A installed for the 22 kW. However, your house connection must first support that, and the utility provider must cooperate. If that is not possible or too expensive, in my opinion 400V/16A or 11 kW is also sufficient for electromobility. You are not only at home for 1 hour, where your car has to go from 0 to 100%. It stands there longer (at least 8 hours overnight), 11 kW is more than enough. Especially because there are considerations to calculate the power in the future and then charging will probably be done only as fast as necessary and not as fast as possible.

Thanks! Then I’ll take the values along and see what the utility company says about 32A.

I'll also chime in here... I had neglected the topic of electric cars. Although I initially mentioned that we wanted to prepare for it, I didn’t follow up due to construction stress. Since we don’t have a shed yet, it wasn’t really necessary. The electrician only gave me a thick underground cable, which I didn’t question further. The guys from civil engineering laid it together with the multi-duct for fiber optics for me. Now I checked and it’s only 5 x 1.5 mm. For my current needs – we only require 1-2 sockets and 2 x lights in the shed – that’s more than enough. The only downside is for an electric car that will certainly come at some point. The multi-duct is fully occupied, so I’ll eventually have to endure an ugly core drill and I’d rather avoid replacing the 5 x 1.5 mm cable. I won’t mess around with the multi-duct, and having high power current in the same multi-duct pipe as fiber optics is not supposed to be good for internet performance either.

What kind of cable do I need for an electric car charger? 5 x 6 mm or 5 x 10 mm? I would like to lay the cable now from the outer wall of the utility room to the outer wall of the shed or into the shed’s floor slab before it gets paved next year and the shed is built. I have to dig the trench for the 5 x 1.5 mm cable anyway, so it would be easy to do it then.

That has no impact on each other, since fiber optic transmits data via light signals, which are not affected by other electromagnetic fields. You can't say that in general; it depends on the length and what power the charger is supposed to have. I would install at least 5x10mm², since the additional cost is negligible. Sometimes 5x16mm² is even better, as it is mostly stranded and therefore easier to install.

So we have laid exactly the same task with a 5*16mm2 cable. That should be sufficient. However, you will not be able to charge two Teslas with Supercharger at the same time with it, as your house connection does not support that at all.

Presumably, the fuse from the street/residential area won’t be sufficient either to let all houses charge with Superchargers or similar. But fast charging at home is rarely necessary. Most of the time, you have time to charge slower overnight.
