Hello,
at our place, the construction power box was connected to the electrician’s distributor on the street. After the work was completed and the electrical distribution finished, the electrical line was then "tapped" directly opposite our utility room in the street. The line was laid underground and pulled into the house through the multi-utility duct entrance. We no longer have a distribution connection box in front of the house.
But you didn’t have to bridge 50 meters. If the distributor is near the property, you can do it that way. By the way, the way it’s positioned there, it would be disconnected immediately at our place, but the rules are known to differ everywhere. :D
Hi,
we recently received the building permit and construction is about to start soon. Regarding the construction power, I inquired beforehand and was told it wouldn’t be a problem (not a new development area). Then it got serious and it turned out that a temporary connection would mean more than 50 meters of cable, and the electrician discussed with the city having the provisional connection laid directly as the house connection. So far so good. But now I have learned that this gray box (house connection pillar) is supposed to remain permanently on our property. I assumed it would only stay for the time until the connection is routed into the building, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Is there a way to remove the “gray box” after completion? Has anyone had similar experiences? Thanks a lot
No idea what was discussed there, but relocating that thing inside the house is theoretically not really more effort. Normally you get a construction connection anyway and only afterwards the house connection.
Basically, you first get a construction connection. It is then best positioned on the property so that it doesn’t disturb anyone and is more or less "on the way" into the house. So later the existing line can be used and does not have to be rerouted with effort.
As soon as power is needed in the house – usually around when the screed is laid – the construction connection box is dismantled and the line is extended into the house with a sleeve. Nowadays you don’t even have to do a core drill but simply go through the multi-utility duct. A good electrician also installs the house connection box properly right away and the technicians then only need to mount a sleeve and connect the box.
If you yourself also take care of exposing the multi-utility duct and route toward the construction connection, the “rerouting” takes at most an hour. At least at our place, you can do the civil engineering yourself and save a lot of money. But of course, that surely depends on the place of residence.
