Hello,
unfortunately, it takes a bit longer because quite a lot has already happened.
We moved in last year on 01.06.
Since then, we have had a clog 4 or 5 times.
It can always be recognized first by the toilet in the upstairs floor gurgling, the siphon empties itself.
I have attached a picture of the pipes under the floor slab, as well as the piping plan with labels.
The following has happened so far:
We got a camera from the drain to the foundation, there the pipe was intact and clean. Unfortunately, the camera could not be pushed around the bend at the foundation.
In addition, we went into the pipe from the utility room with a camera during the second to last clog. The pipe was completely full of water, so we could no longer see anything with the camera. From the utility room, we also passed a drain snake through, and I looked outside at the drain to see what was happening. The snake came out under the foundation outside. However, nothing came with it. In other words, the main line from the kitchen and the utility room was relatively clear. Probably the small branch pipe from the utility room sink to the main line is always flooded. Unfortunately, the camera broke that day, so we could no longer look through the branch pipe from the guest bathroom. Since the clog was thus not resolved, I ran water everywhere afterwards and eventually it cleared.
We suspect the point that repeatedly causes problems is exactly at the junction between the line from the guest toilet and the main line from the kitchen.
Once the clog is noticed, we try to clear it with water. That means we flush and let water run at all taps. Eventually, this causes both toilets to stop draining as well as the washbasin and the shower in the guest bathroom. The water in the toilet can easily stand for 15 minutes before draining. I have also unsuccessfully bought and tried a plunger. It then gurgles out of the clogged shower (just bubbles) but nothing else happens. The kitchen and utility room have always drained so far. However, the camera showed a pipe full of water. We then did not go any further in because we could not see anything through the water. Probably only the small branch pipe from the utility room sink was full of water. What is strange, however, is that the water from the kitchen and utility room arrives cleanly at the drain. So the actual clog is not there.
When we run water in the kitchen and utility room, it reaches the drain cleanly. Occasionally, some toilet paper comes along. But to finally clear the clog, it always helps best to fill the sinks in the kitchen and utility room and then drain them once. Then the entire clog comes out (although the pipe is actually clear).
At most, something can be sitting directly at the connection between the two pipes, right?
Now about the venting: I believe the plumber planned the venting completely wrong. The vent is located as shown in the picture. That means only 50 cm of the pipe under the floor slab is vented, right?
To improve this, I installed Wirquin air neo traps in the guest bathroom and bathroom upstairs. According to the manufacturer, a membrane is supposed to open when negative pressure occurs. Since we bought them, about 3 to 4 weeks have passed. This morning, however, it was clogged again.
Would it still make sense to install some kind of vent in the kitchen siphon? That line is not vented at all yet. Can you recommend anything there?
Are there any other things or recommendations that can be made?
We have already set deadlines and reminder deadlines for other defects for the plumber, which he has let expire. So no help is to be expected from there anymore.
