Actually, you shouldn’t have such a discussion with us, but rather with your wife and your parents together at the table.
The question is not only whether you deny many things too much (or your wife), but also, at this time - and not much later - how your parents see it. How much concession are they willing to make? Do they see the problem? Do they know about your desire to have children?
What is their attitude towards a sale or a new build?
After the meeting with the bank, you should seek this conversation.
And I would never immediately deny something, but rather consider the possibilities (of the rooms), because at the moment you are pretty much standing in your own way with your demands and no-gos.
