So we have about the same net income (a little more) and we would have gotten it from some banks (status from 2 months ago). Our house bank capped at 600k€, we felt it was earlier, as the burden felt too high. Important note: We have 4 children, so a higher living allowance...

Maybe just needs a bit of time for themselves to plan the next steps. There are still a few options: - Use equity - Check "bonuses etc" to see how much that actually is per year and use it - "Collect" additional equity from parents - Calculate costs more precisely, as there is no buffer left (e.g. kitchen for 10k) - Design renovation more frugally (no new heat pump) - Let the seller participate in the interest rate increase (adjust purchase price downwards)

Uff. €6,800 net income and parents offer money for the house... I'll just leave it at that....

ah ok. I think it's €350 allowance per child.
Still sad that you already need over €6,000 net with these prices. A semi-detached house also usually costs over €600k here.

It doesn't have to be a gift, but when I hear around from colleagues, many parents are hoarding their money with 0% interest. My mother too. Then you meet halfway interest-wise and everyone is happy. With 3% interest and more, such models will come back into fashion. And don't forget, even the additional costs are supposed to be financed here. Someone wrote that 5-6% interest is to be expected. If you don't ask your parents, siblings, or someone else for a loan at 3% then, I can't understand that, sorry.

In my circles, that means pride. I would never ask my parents for something like that. Even when I studied and had to live on instant spaghetti from Maestro Miracolli for several months, I never asked my parents for money.

But we have already discussed this topic extensively. And views, but also customs/upbringing, differ in this regard.
