Don't forget that parental allowance must be included later in the tax return – this can partly be a significant burden, which is often not pointed out. Changing the tax class is all well and good – but then you have to live with the restrictions for 7 months accordingly. You do get it back at the beginning of the next year, but after building [after the construction] one usually doesn't live in wealth.

Yes, many really forget to factor that in. A lot is still deducted from the child benefit - for example, we got a total of 22 euros back on taxes for 2013. My wife was on parental leave until and including October, I was in January (I’m leaving 2012 out of this). Otherwise, it was always around 1,000-1,500 euros.

We even calculated a loss, but the tax office was on our side. They also gave us more time than usual. This year it somehow goes faster.

We have received a lot back despite parental leave. As a man, you just must not switch to the 3 while the woman is at home.

Yesterday, we first looked up a few addresses for [Muster-Haus-Parks]. There are quite large ones here in Nuremberg/Ingolstadt and Munich.
Which is also a very big topic, or you often read about it, whether the so-called basement, as it might have been built 20/30 years ago, is still necessary for heating and, for example, oil tanks. I only know it by word of mouth, but a basement apparently costs around €30,000 - €40,000 depending on the size.

What is your opinion on this?
