In the neighboring town, someone had a single-family house with 56 m² of living space built, which is why I first considered a very similar construction project. ...A few years ago, a house for me was still a building with at least 100-120 m² of living space and at least 4 rooms, but since I am no longer sure if I will need more living space later, I prefer to build smaller with the option to expand.

The pure living space of a small house compared to a small apartment: - no communal basement or attic.
- The hallway must be larger because it functions as a windbreak
- Bathroom/utility room must be large enough due to building technology
Otherwise, I actually only see advantages in a small house compared to a small apartment: + no trouble with neighbors, since I will have more than 10 m distance from the house to the end of the property if I have the house built approximately in the middle of the lot
+ no rent increases
+ enough space for a pool etc. (which I also find very important)

This is a very good idea. The only thing that would bother me is that the house would no longer be level, so also not age-appropriate. (Since I already have issues with my knees and back at a young age, that would not be optimal.)

I somehow like the idea. Away from more and more. Question, what do I actually need? Instead of, how is it usually done. The country seems big enough. The possibility of cultivation is taken into account. Bending over backwards for the house, no thanks, that's an attitude. Look, dear critics, at [Nl], or [Dk] or [GB], how small people often live there. But how high the share of owners is compared to [D].

Being an owner is not a "value in itself." Better to rent a larger place than play the hermit in 50 m2.

That's why the participants of this forum event all build rental apartments?
The sentence "better bigger and renting" is not existentially felt in this context. I'm pretty sure of that.
And anyway, he wants ownership, small but mine, and I think that's good.
