I suggest taking a look at the bungalows in the Munich Olympic Village. Very compact, 2-story. Well thought out, I checked them out out of interest and they are very suitable for living. In some cases, 2 bungalows were combined for families.

Bungalow - 2-story? You probably mean bungalow with a basement or an expandable attic?

In the specific case, they are called that way, indeed since 1972. In the "women's village" of the Olympics there are maisonette student apartments of about 20 sqm with a roof terrace.

The small two-story terraced houses in the Olympic Village are commonly called bungalows. From a definitional standpoint, that’s probably not quite correct, that’s true. But they are easy to google.

These offer a lot of utility in 24 sqm, are very well thought out. Own front door, small kitchen, small bathroom, built-in closets, and on the first floor a balcony and room. I immediately thought of these when reading the thread. They were also very cheap back then, today probably no longer available for 12,000 Marks due to the energy saving regulations.

Phew, have you ever been inside such a bungalow? The bathroom - completely cast from plastic (?) - and the cramped space inside you really have to like; just like the bed hanging in the air. I would probably always be afraid of falling out and all the way down to the ground floor. Yes, it is compact, but for permanent living definitely very special!

I have forgotten who manufactures/made something like this. I first saw it in a magazine from around 1965, and about three years ago for the first time live in a small hotel. It is rare and therefore mainly unusual, but actually pleasant. Seamless = without dirt corners is a quite appealing concept, especially for hotels or other buildings with frequent (pre)tenant changes. As a homeowner, of course, the modular sample selection and interchangeability is preferable.
