So in the end, chronically insecure people who actually know it works but seek confirmation in an internet forum and become snippy as soon as you don’t say what they want to hear.. confirmed by a fellow sufferer who also didn’t get to hear what he wanted... Why do you actually seek advice in a forum if in the end you think you know better?

Why do you post if you have nothing meaningful to contribute?

In this section of the forum it seems normal that everyone knows all financial, professional backgrounds, etc. much better than the respective thread starter.

However, at the moment you are the know-it-all ;)

I believe I have been on the internet longer than most here. I learned to ignore trolls a long time ago ;)

Several people have already mentioned that, I doubled the costs. Where do you think the incidental construction costs would lie in my example? As for their content, I can't really say much more, I've never built before and don't know what would come up in detail. As I said, I only made assumptions to be able to derive an upper limit for the plot price.

If you know all that better, then you don't need to ask for advice here. That's why I said... chronically insecure people. You are looking for confirmation, not real advice. The higher the income, the more insecure people become. I've never understood that.

The same applies to the OP here. If all that is true: reserves for parental leave available, income over 8,000 net in a few years and you find a bank that agrees... why not? Everything fits, right?

I always wonder what is expected here? In a car forum, your initial posts would be something like: Hello, my Golf has been rattling since last week. What could it be? Is it broken, do I need to go to the workshop? Thanks...

And if then the first person writes that probably the exhaust is broken because in his experience that is by far the most frequent cause of rattling... then the response is that the answerer is obviously stupid, it rattles in the glove compartment, so it can't be the exhaust, the brother-in-law already looked at it, he knows a little about it, blah blah...

Whoever wants an assessment whether something is financially feasible must disclose their income and assets. Just like at the bank. Whoever doesn't do that is out of luck or gets the wrong advice.

As you have gathered from the other posts, that can roughly match the house price (and basement costs and incidental construction costs probably spread differently or maybe it’s a bit more because of the basement). But of course, it always depends on your own standards and is more of a rule of thumb (pun intended) and especially if you’re not building immediately, no one can really predict future construction prices. The fancier you want it, the less of an upper limit there is anyway, but I think that goes without saying. If no one should look at the salary, then you have to see for yourself how much installment you would be willing to pay and also calculate it for times with lower income, how much more buffer you might need to bridge that. I also simply assume now that you might still have a few other reserves that you could use there or that you could save additionally alongside during the planning phase... (But I also know myself that it’s extremely hard for me to see reserves shrink, even if they were exactly meant for that... But that’s probably more a mental thing. But you should also consider how much it might burden you to switch from "we easily save thousands of euros a month" to "we go into the red every month," even if that was only planned as a temporary phase.)
