Often it is the case that "secondary matters" seem less important than "main matters". However, stair railings often stand out much more in the room than the stairs themselves.

True, we had also initially considered having the staircase painted after installation, and white was also under discussion. But when it was installed in "raw steel," I thought it looked nice like that.

I also see painting as rather suboptimal when I think about it. Since you have an open living area, I would probably avoid a pure steel staircase for acoustic reasons. As correctly writes, the railing is actually almost more important than the staircase itself ;)

with a steel staircase, it would make sense to place magnetically anchored pads on it. For example, a sisal fabric wrapped around the edges, which is fixed from below with magnets. Magnets are now so strong that you can no longer remove them by hand. ... but "it's true" that many of my ideas are not "available for purchase." Something like that would have to be specially made by a craftsman and would certainly require a lot of additional development ideas and tests to be carried out.
