Hi, I find your draft very successful. I can especially well imagine the wellness area in the basement living space. The atrium would certainly be very useful for this. I also really like the spacious open-plan room! Great design! An idea to structure the living space: You could also place a room-divider fireplace to the right of the living room door. Then the areas are somewhat more separated and you can see the stove/fireplace from both the dining table and the living room. However, I can’t see how much space there is to the right of the door. More than 4 meters?

I hope my grandchildren do not want to live with their grandparents, but jokes aside. I see the problem the same way, even if the temperature issue is generally addressed through climate control in the house. Mmmh, I've been thinking about this the whole time, but when I look at our 3 children, they couldn't care less about the orientation of the rooms. You could just as well argue that the south-facing position is much less appreciated by the children over the years they live in the house. So our teenager hardly ever stands in front of the window and enjoys the view. The other two kids definitely don’t. If they’re lucky, they’ll even raise the shutters. :) I, on the other hand, would look forward to it every day anew. Now, however, I can't judge where the prime location is in terms of the view. You have to assess that yourselves. From a gut feeling, I would keep the room layout as it is, if you at least somewhat appreciate the south-facing position. Your children probably won’t and will more likely complain about warm children's rooms if that’s an issue.
